Clover's Travels & Adventures

A few months ago, my 10 year-old pup, Clover, (commonly referred to as my better half) was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Failure (CKF). Based on her blood work, our vet was not confident she would make it past 2018.

With our tails between our legs, Clover and I knew we'd have to make some major changes in order to keep her doggin' around for a lot longer than just one year...

In addition to changing her diet & receiving IV fluid treatment, we thought there would be no better medicine than TRAVEL! Clover's a lover of all things, but especially the outdoors. Together, we knew a weekend in the woods would do us some good.

Just a little over an hour from home, Clover and I trekked up to none other than the Pocono Mountains for one of the best weekends of our lives.

Here, Clover and I are at the Delaware Water Gap. CKF couldn't stop this girl from hiking 3 miles!

As much as we loved our walk through wilderness, we couldn't wait to get back to our Pocono cabin rental in East Stroudsburg. Clover made herself quite comfortable while mom barbecued on the deck...did someone say hot dogs?

It was so incredibly important for me to give Clover a great weekend after being poked and prodded all week at the vet. While Clover is "just a dog," she senses things- she knows it's out of our normal routine to be spending long hours getting blood drawn and being filled up with fluids.

The Poconos gave her a piece of her old life back - it was just...simple.

During our first night, we stayed in our Pocono vacation home rental and watched a movie. Snuggled up on the couch, it felt like home.

For the remainder of the weekend, we tried to find fun things to do in the Poconos. As a dog mom, it's sometimes difficult to find activities and places where you can bring your pup-child. BringFido really came in handy and offered some great suggestions in/around the East Stroudsburg area.

Regina Farms, Bushkill Falls and W. Leroy Lewis Dog Park were some of the best sites we saw on our journey.

I mean, come on, name a happier pup. You can't.

It's safe to say that two days in the Poconos was not nearly enough. With tons of treatments ahead of us, we cannot wait to go back for another reprieve and explore some of the best parks and waterfalls nationwide.

Stay tuned for more on Clover's travels through the Poconos!
